About Us

What We Believe

  1. We believe that there is one God, creator of the universe, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that we are called to live to the praise of His glory.
  2. We believe that our faith is in the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was born of a virgin, lived a life without sin, performed miracles, and died on the cross to redeem us. He rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return in power and glory.
  3. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who indwells and enables the Christian to live a godly life and who empowers the church to carry out Christ’s Great Commission.
  4. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative word of God.
  5. We believe in the Church, the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the Head. We also believe in the local church as a gathering of believers for worship, fellowship, discipleship, and ministry.
  6. We believe the only terms of salvation we may proclaim are those expressed in the New Testament: faith, repentance, confession of faith, and believer’s baptism in Jesus Christ.
  7. We believe in the bodily resurrection of those who remain in Jesus Christ.

Our History

Woods Chapel of Odessa, Missouri, is a local, non-denominational church. We have been here since 1885 as a community of Christians who desire to be disciples of Jesus and serve those around us. We consider it an honor and a privilege to have served this region for so long, and we are excited about the future God has in store for us here!

The current church building, our home since 2020, is a testament to our resilience and faith. It was rebuilt from a fire in 2019, a symbol of our unwavering commitment to our community and our belief in God’s plan for us.
